Is Your Posture Stealing Your Energy?
Share
A few years ago, I was sorting through a box of old photographs that had been waiting for decades to find their way into albums… when I came across one that made me pause.
A hunched-over figure, collapsed through the torso, barely holding herself upright.
With a furrowed brow, unsure of who it was, in a flash I realised… it was me.
I hardly recognised myself.
Back then...
…I didn’t feel strong – a short swim or walk with the kids exhausted me
…I didn’t feel well – erratic sleep had me start the day heavy with no energy
…I didn’t feel like me – my brain was foggy, my usual spark gone.
What I’ve since come to understand is how deeply the health of the spine influences the way we feel – physically, mentally, emotionally and especially energetically.
When your spine is misaligned, the body works overtime to compensate – muscles strain, breath shortens, organs compress.
No wonder we feel tired or weighed down, before the day has even begun.
But when you’re aligned?
You feel lighter. Clearer. More grounded. More capable.
Here are just a few of the reasons I support people to return to natural upright alignment through presence, energy, and awareness:
5 REASONS TO ALIGN THE SPINE:
1. Natural strength and support.
Your spine is designed to be a pillar. When it’s aligned, it can support the weight of your head with ease.
> Out of alignment? You may end the day with a sore neck or nagging headaches – especially after screen time.
2. Freer breathing.
When your chest is open and the lungs have space, your breath flows naturally energising you.
> When slouched, your breath gets shallow — which can leave you tired, anxious, or foggy without knowing why.
3. More space for organs to function.
Better digestion and elimination.
> Poor posture compresses your belly and lead to bloating or sluggish digestion, or other issues in the abdomen.
4. Real core strength – no crunches!
Good alignment naturally strengthens your body’s bigger core muscles for stability.
> Without it, you may feel wobbly or unsteady – or notice your lower back gets tired just from standing.
5. Stops overworking the little muscles.
Misalignment overworks smaller muscles in your shoulders, neck, and lower back.
> That constant tightness or tension you’re carrying? It’s not just stress — it’s your body trying to compensate.
When your spine is aligned, your energy has somewhere to flow.
When it isn’t, your body leaks power all day long.
A new awareness with a few small shifts in how you move can start changing everything:
…learning to feel more at home in your body
…restoring energy from the inside
…finding a new kind of strength through ease.
And it all starts here.
